after the vet trip was over ...alan was on a mission to build michelles dachshund a cart...something we hoped he would never have to do...she has had problems with her disc since oct 2010...extreme kenneling her helps...but really ...when we notice her back legs slipping...we have been increasing her down time and this has worked for over a year...but a couple of weeks ago...she started having problems again...so we increased her kenneling ...it worked ...but a week ago she jumped up on a gate in our kitchen...let out a yelp...and we went back to square #1...so it has been a rough week for her...so alan thought maybe it was time for a cart for maddie...hoping it will be temporary...but it would be a temporary way for her to get around and burn some energy off...without dragging her feet around...his first attempt at this building project was friday night...it turned out great...just was not right for her...she hated it...wanted no parts of it...i think it really bothered him...but he them hit the internet and i showed him the disabled dachshund website...they suggested a build with pvc...so alan was up early saturday morning...and off to ace hardware...he took lots of measurements...and was in the garage most of the morning...and then he finally arrived in the kitchen...maddies tail was wagging ...right away...she got right in the cart...took off...tail just a wagging...i think we all teared up...something that you never wish on anyone...and or this to happen to your dog...michelles little baby...but i was so happy that michelle got to see this reaction out of her baby...she was so happy racing around the house...michelle and maddie are so close...and both need each other...they seem to know each others struggle...
my maxi was so glad to have maddie mobile again...they just love playing together...did a heart good...and alan was so happy to do it for her...i was so glad she loved it the way she did...alan is very close to all of dogs...which is a good thing since they have always been a rock to michelle and i when he was gone so much...
michelle and i stayed busy all day yesterday and got so much done...we even got baths for all of our dogs and they were all groomed...maxi took a while...she had not had a great grooming...since her surgery...michelle baked off the rest of a case of sweet potatoes we had purchased before christmas...that was an awesome deal....at .47 cents a pound...only lost one...she baked and froze what we had left...we straightened up ...got laundry done...i even had time to cut alans hair...he is the only one left now that trusts me with the scissors...or shears as we call them...after our wicked summer...
alan did take an old coffee table that he purchased...for 4.99 at goodwill a few weeks ago...and turned it into a really rustic bench...just needs to be stained...very productive day around here and i love that...
maxi got me up at 6:30 this morning...which really is not early for me ...but yesterday she slept in until 8:00 ...so i did too...love getting up early though...get some me time...cooked a pound of sausage that i had made into patties...i freeze these singly...so i do not have to cook every morning...had coffee...checked facebook...surfed the net for news...better sign off for now and run to grab a couple of sunday papers...to see if there are any coupons to buy from my coupon supplier this afternoon...and hope today is as productive as yesterday was...we can only hope...and yes... GO RAVENS...you will always be our team ...you all have a great day too :)
maddie in her new cart...so very happy... :)

She looks like such a sweetheart. I'm happy this turned out so good for her.

I can't imagine my life without Duke, Pootie, or Weiner. I am pretty sure that I depend on them as much as they depend on me.
